LA Camco Drum Set in Stradivarius

Where vintage meets modern. Camco drums are highly regarded for their incredible tone, tuning range, and craftsmanship. These are true workhorse drums, versatile enough to handle any style or setting. Their undersized maple shells and unique roundover bearing edges give them exceptional resonance and warmth making them incredible live and studio drums.

I first acquired this set as a 12/13/16/22 from Bob Saull of Carolina Classic Drums. Later, I was able to source a matching 18” floor tom and a 14x10 rack tom. The 14x10 had been stripped of its original finish, so I had it color matched to match the rest of the kit. A few years later, Bob reached back out and offered me the matching 14x6.5 snare drum! Most recently, I added a 13/13/16/22 concert tom set from Junk Rock Drums to round out the LA Camco collection.

Interestingly, the 12/13/16/22 kit, 18” floor tom and the 14x6.5 snare drum all were sold out of Vancouver, Canada! Roughly a 6 hour drive from Spokane Washington.

Out of all the drums I have owned, this LA Camco Drum Set in Stradivarius is hands down my favorite drum set.

Here is a write up from the 1970 Camco Drum Company Catelog.

Only the finest of materials are used in handcrafting Camco drums-choice grade hard rock maple shells, heavy duty hardware, solid brass snare shells, and full response heads, Anything less would compromise Camco quality. Anything less would not be acceptable to those drummers who rely and insist upon Camco quality for either enjoyment or employment.
